The Director, Global Security Operations (Europe, Middle East, Africa - EMEA), is a member of UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) Corporate Security team. The Corporate Security group is responsible for the Workplace Security Program that ensures the protection of the company’s global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Director, Global Security Operations (EMEA), will be responsible for developing and managing an efficient and effective security program for our company’s assets, personnel and equities within the EMEA region in alignment with UHG Corporate Security’s policy, standards and procedures. This includes management and oversight of all regional security related contracts, country security liaison programs, physical security technology assets and security incidents within the region as well as regional execution of travel and executive security services and threat intelligence monitoring. This role will be based in London, England, will support the Optum Global Advantage (OGA) and UnitedHealthcare Global (UHC Global) business entities and will report into Corporate Security, Vice President, Global Security Operations - UnitedHealth Group. Candidates need to have experience managing a corporate security program through best practices alignment, integrating and sustaining physical security systems and protocols while providing strategic advice and assurance to leadership, preferably within an international organization. This includes the development of local security strategies, risk management methodologies, security vulnerability assessments, physical security reviews, emergency response planning, executive protection services implementation, travel security program management and oversight of in-country, contract security processes and protocols within a diverse, matrixed organization. The candidate will need to build and maintain strong external partnerships with local and federal law enforcement authorities. In addition, the candidate will need to build exceptional relationships with all businesses in the regional as well as strong internal partnerships with key Enterprise stakeholders including Information Technology, Communications, Human Capital/Employee Relations, LCRA (Compliance, Employment Law, and Litigation), Real Estate Services and other various business segment managers . This individual will also be responsible for engagement with external security systems integrators, security vendors and other parties as needed. This role will require up to 25% travel, primarily within the specified region of responsibility. Periodic international travel to the United States will also be required. Primary Responsibilities: Liaison with internal stakeholders and external sources, such as government and law enforcement agencies, to ethically and effectively mitigate security risks to the organization and its employees; Deliver proactive, actionable recommendations on security risk strategies; Manage and ensure a consistent, common, and adequate approach to security governance in the region in line with global Corporate Security policies and standards ; Manage country and business-specific security programs while maximizing the efficiency of current and future physical security systems and technologies; Effectively manage an international contract security guard force operation across the specified region; Influence business leadership and stakeholders regarding security protocols, standards and policy development and compliance; Lead in-region security assessments, projects and initiatives; Effectively manage security incidents, investigations and reporting protocols; Manage security resource planning for in-region business events and conferences; Deliver and manage an effective response to security incidents and/or crises in coordination with the business and Corporate Security leadership; Operationalize executive protection policies, processes and services in region under the direction of the Executive Security program leader; Make case presentations and recommendations to the Corporate Security Leadership Team regarding the continuous improvement of in-region business processes, procedures and innovative solutions as they relate to managing incidents while ensuring swift resolution with minimal business disruption; Proactively alert Corporate Security Leadership of incidents and/or geopolitical risks that pose a threat to company personnel, assets or equities; Implement in-region intelligence reporting processes to include alerting business assets, employees, travelers and senior leadership in conjunction with Corporate Security Leadership, the Risk Intelligence program, the Travel Security Program and the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC); Support executive and travel security programs in region through effective risk and incident monitoring, risk mitigation solutions and incident management in conjunction with the Executive Security and Travel Security program; Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to include Communications, IT , Human Capital/Employee Relations, LCRA (Compliance, Employment Law, and Litigation), Real Estate Services, Procurement, Supply Chain, and business segment managers ; Required Qualifications: University Degree or equivalent education; Relevant security experience in the private and/or public sector to include security risk management, security operations, intelligence, federal law enforcement and/or military operations; Strong, established network of security, law enforcement and governmental resources specifically within the United Kingdom and throughout Europe; Experience leading professional security contractors and/or contract guard force operations within a global, corporate environment, preferably within the United Kingdom and/or Europe; Experience leading or supporting executive protection and travel security programs Demonstrated ethical adherence to compliance standards; Demonstrated understanding of best practices surrounding physical security technology, strategies and policies; Demonstrated ability to effectively articulate and document incident reporting; Proven ability to provide discretion while working with sensitive business situations; Demonstrated ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively; Demonstrated ability to work ethically across multiple, business functional lines; Demonstrated ability to effectively identify and manage critical incidents and issues quickly and accurately with limited supervision; Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy; Strong ability to collaborate with all levels of business management throughout a global organization; Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing credible, risk-based analysis in order to effectively determine and deploy appropriate security technology systems to mitigate identified risks; Ability to perform under high pressure and emotional situations; Possess a current valid Passport and driver’s license Preferred Qualifications: International incident management or investigative experience preferred; Business Continuity and/or Crisis Management experience within a governmental or international corporate environment; Careers with Optum.
