Location Westminster, London About the job Summary UKEF's mission is to ensure that no viable UK export fails for lack of finance or insurance, while operating at no net cost to the taxpayer. In the last five years we’ve provided 18.5 billion of support for UK exports. UKEF works in partnership with banks and brokers to help exporters realise their ambitions. The Operations Division is an enabling team supporting the ambitions of the UKEF Business Plan. This covers Digital Trade Finance Service, Premium and Data Control, International Debt, Lending and Financial Derivatives, and the Due Diligence Unit. Focusing on developing services to meet user need and enable business outcomes, this is an exciting new role showing the growth and drive of UKEFs digital ambition. Our developers work in small agile teams, to deliver prioritised work packages from the research stage through to deployment as live services. You’ll be delivering and integrating software to form complete services as well as building and maintaining the service components to ensure they meet our needs. You will work closely with our research and design teams providing technical expertise. We will expect you to be proactive in identifying process optimisation opportunities and contributing to the implementation of proposed solutions. We think that these are some of the most interesting and exciting projects in government right now, and we look forward to finding the right person to help us deliver them. Responsibilities In this role, you will: • be responsible for writing clean, accessible front-end code following a progressive enhancement approach • lead the Node.js and Front-end approach for the Digital Trade Finance Service Team for the existing service and new services, identifying appropriate technology and approaches and working with the Service design and UX lead to implement accessible designs. • design software which meets user needs and creates meaningful interactions and relationships with users • have an understanding of the three fundamental frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) • create code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse Further duties of the role can be found in the candidate Information Pack. Qualifications To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. If you do not meet this requirement, you would not be eligible for SC clearance and therefore not eligible to apply for this role.
