Our client is small enough to be agile, adaptable and fast moving on change, and big enough to be able to support career progression. The Challenge: Our client is on the lookout for an outstanding IT Technician to join the team and work at a School. You will be fully based in the school, with access and support from the IT team at Head Office. As they like to operate as a team, there will be times when you may need to undertake training at Head Office. They need someone who is customer-focussed with an admiration for customer service, great communication skills, and a passion for technology. You will be experienced in giving a first-class IT service to resolve client issues. Your responsibilities will include: · Be the first port of call for all your school’s ICT needs, resolving daily support requests, and providing hands on support for requests when necessary. · Provide great communication with your school and key personnel within the school · Work with the school development team to ensure that the school are getting the best level of service · Responsible for managing and controlling all technical aspects of the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and development of the school’s ICT hardware, software and network infrastructure · Provide monthly reports, minutes and updated documentation as necessary · Manage the installation, maintenance and upgrades of desktop hardware (including peripherals) and software · Support Audio Visual requirements to support teaching and learning · Manage advanced diagnosis procedures on hardware, software and peripherals · Ensure that all helpdesk tickets are logged, tracked and resolved in-line with company policies and procedures · Manage and support specialist software as necessary · Effectively monitor, manage and maintain all infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, SAN, Wi-Fi and networking equipment · Ensure that backup and archive systems are in place and are compliant with the customer and company policy and procedures · Oversee the installation, maintenance and upgrades of all infrastructure equipment · Manage key services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy · Ensure that a disaster recovery plan is in place and adhered to · Deploy and maintain appropriate secure ICT infrastructure including filtering, monitoring, firewall and Anti-Virus systems · Manage remote access to the customer’s systems · Ensure excellent communication with the school, your manager and other team members - calls, messages, and emails are responded to every day · Follow company procedures for placing orders, requesting installations and help ensure that the company are aware of any new opportunities · To work safely and in accordance with the company’s health and safety policy and procedures and to be aware of your health and safety responsibilities within your team · Helping to shadow, train and induct new and inexperienced members of the team · Any ad-hoc tasks that the company might require The Person: You will be ready to take on an exciting and influential role. You must be able to quickly diagnose and solve problems and have great communication skills. · Strong experience with ICT and technical issues · Outstanding levels of customer service with positive and pro-active communication skills both verbal and written · Demonstrable ability to make proactive decisions when an ICT emergency occurs · Flexible and approachable · Committed to make a positive impact to your end users including teachers and pupils · Adaptable and able to cope with change · Able to work independently and good at planning and organising own time effectively · Excellent team player · Ability to motivate and inspire others within a team · Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure · Be prepared to work with students · Be prepared to train small groups of school staff · Be prepared to assist with occasional lifting of equipment during installations Education and Qualifications: Essential A Level in ICT or prior experience in ICT Support Good level of English AD, DNS, DHCP GP Desirable Microsoft Certification Hyper-V SAN Topology Microsoft 365 Prior experience in an education establishment Job Hours: Full time (8am to 5pm Monday to Friday)
