100% Remote working - Core PHP Back End Developer - Experience with WordPress/Laravel/Drupal beneficial Please note that my client cannot offer VISA sponsorship for this role Your new company My client are a highly reputable Digital Agency based in Winchester but implementing full remote working across the UK. They are just about to celebrate their 20th birthday and have an excellent reputation from their no nonsense approach to the work they do for their awesome clients. Some of their main work operates in the Charitable and higher education industries, and they use a few different technologies to deliver their amazing work. These technologies include WordPress (Plugins), Drupal (custom modules) and Laravel (bespoke application development), all built upon the solid foundations of custom core PHP development The company pride themselves on a extremely low turnover of staff, family feel culture and success rate in the market. Although they are relatively small in size, the work they do competes with the larger agency competitors. Your new role The majority of the work they do is based in WordPress and Drupal, but the nature of their projects frequently requires the development of custom Drupal modules and WordPress plugins. Your core work will therefore by CMS integration and custom PHP Development. From time to time they also take on projects requiring more bespoke application development such as Laravel. They have plenty of design and front-end capability already, so while good knowledge of HTML is essential, you won't be working with much SASS/CSS or marking up designs. Designs will be translated to a component library design system ready for you to integrate with a CMS platform, layout builder or similar. You'll have support from a Front End developer to help user interfaces render in a maintainable, accessible, and performant way. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candiadte will enjoy solving technical development challenges, implementing robust integrations with third-party APIs, the more technical side of theme development when their front-end developers need assistance, and influencing the evolution of their technical stack. They are open to modern JavaScript frameworks in conjunction with the use of headless CMSs, for example, but PHP skills are paramount for this role. Experience in WordPress and/or Drupal/Laravel will be highly beneficial for this role Full list of skills they are looking for include: Strong experience of PHP Development for custom websites and web applications. Strong experience of working with MySQL. Strong experience of object oriented coding. Strong experience of working in a professional development environment using an IDE, code repositories, and well managed deployment processes. Working with external APIs to enable websites to integrate with third party systems Experience of Linux server configuration. Experience of website development and server security best practices. A solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Demonstrable ability to work with team members, including front-end developers, and independently. Keen to learn, and to embrace emerging web technologies Other desirable skills include: Drupal-based web development including custom module development and Drupal theming. WordPress based web development, including custom plugin development and Wordpress theming. Experience of maintaining and administering Drupal websites. Experience of maintaining and administering WordPress websites.
