ITOM Application Engineer The Consultant Platform & Applications Engineer is responsible for developing the capability and functionality of the Capita IT Services BMC TrueSight and Truesight Server Automation (TSSA/BladeLogic) platform. The Consultant Platform & Applications Engineer will develop and implement new automation and integrations with other Capita tool sets as well as introduce new standalone functionality where needed. One of the main goals of the Tools Excellence team is to make the most out of the untapped potential of Capita's existing toolset. This is not a directly operational role so there is no requirement to participate in an on-call rota, however, flexibility in working hours is required, as changes to business critical/operational systems sometimes must occur out of hours. What you will be doing: The integration, development, and transition (where relevant) of all the following Strategic systems based on BMC technologies: BMC TSSO / BladeLogic for Server Management (Specifically using API Technologies) BMC TrueSight for Monitoring (Specifically using API Technologies) Working with finance, sales, project, and operational teams to take requirements for new business needs. To maintain an understanding of current and emerging technologies To maintain key contacts in other ITS business units to identify synergies, gaps and overlaps in service offerings Supporting the Operational, Service Delivery and Implementation teams in fulfilling requirements for customer using as much automation and integration as possible To act as a technical reference for teams across IT Services Assisting Support/Implementation teams with issues/projects/design. To complete and assist in the review of Security Impact Assessments. What we are looking for: Has proven operational delivery skills with extensive knowledge of the BMC Suite of Server Management technologies, specifically using the REST API. Has proven experience in managing and delivering internal monitoring support functions. Demonstrates the highest standards of professional behaviour in dealing with clients, colleagues and staff. Has a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to system management and problem solving. Possesses good inter-personal skills, especially in handling contacts of all types and at all levels. Has a comprehensive knowledge of several IT areas, including development and maintenance, and a broad understanding across the whole of the IT lifecycle with a record of having applied that knowledge successfully in a variety of situations. Possesses a thorough understanding of service process improvement and can place this in the business and commercial context of an organisation and their markets. Can deal easily with professionals and managers in both technical and non-technical disciplines.
