Family Services Worker / Practitioner with excellent communication skills, the ability to identify and understand the needs of service users and the ability to work within a challenging environment is required for a well-established charity based in Winchester, Hampshire, South East England. SALARY: £30,316 - £34,627 per annum LOCATION: Winchester, Hampshire, South East England JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Family Services Worker / Practitioner with excellent communication skills, the ability to identify and understand the needs of service users and the ability to work within a challenging environment. Working as a Family Services Worker / Practitioner you will work within a small dynamic team delivering a range of support to prisoners and their families. This will include support for prison visits and engaging with prisoners at induction to identify their support needs and to enable them to maintain relationships whilst in custody. As a Family Services Worker / Practitioner your role includes working in close partnership with prison staff and a range of partner organisations both internally and in the community. DUTIES Your duties as a Family Services Worker / Practitioner will include: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategy, plans and protocols for services to children, young people and their families affected by imprisonment, ensuring that an excellent service is delivered creating demonstrable and positive impact Adhere to prison security policies and work in partnership with prison managers and staff Case hold and contribute to case meetings as required and to maintain case notes to a high standard producing progress reports as necessary and within timescales Participate in the delivery of a range of interventions with an emphasis on maintaining and building family ties between the prisoner and their family/significant other (e.g Family Day visits) Ensure the companys Safeguarding policy and procedure are correctly followed by the staff team, under direction of the Service Manager To ensure services are o Child centred o Customer focused and responsive to service users o Solution focused o Meaningful and include participation of service users o Fully embrace diversity and anti discriminatory practice Be a highly effective team member who is able to work in a challenging environment and communicate and negotiate appropriately and professionally with service users, colleagues and multi-agency partners, contributing to the running of the service, responding to ongoing change and solving problems as they arise Work in proactive cross functional and departmental relationships and systems to ensure the best service and outcomes for children, young people, prisoners, their families and visitors Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with all prison staff and other sector organisations based within the prison setting Actively promote joint working with relevant local authorities to support the continuation and development of services for prisoners, children and families Work with the team to contribute to awareness raising sessions, presentations and delivery of training as required to volunteers and partnership organisations CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Professional qualification in relevant field Evidence of recent and continuing professional development in your professional field and its relevance to the posts requirements Evidence of professional experience of engaging with vulnerable adults and children Experience of providing family support interventions Experience of working in a small team Evidence of professional experience of managing services within prisons A working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of: o The Children Acts of 1989 and 2004 and United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child o Child protection and safeguarding issues, including Safeguarding and Child Protection policies, procedures and systems o An Outcomes based approach to measuring performance and its application in services for children An understanding of criminal justice system Proficient time management skills Strong analytical, interpretative, evaluative and organisational skills to work at operational levels Skills in interpreting and analysing data Proficient IT skills in word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and email Excellent interpersonal and communication skills effective in a variety of settings and range of people Demonstrates an excellent customer service approach This post has the following special circumstances: o Occasional national travel o Flexible approach to hours due to possible travel and supporting the needs of colleagues and service users. o This role is subject to prison security clearance APPLY TODAY By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
