Job Title: Client Service Executive Location: London, Gray’s Inn Road Salary: Competitive Full time/Permanent Role Description At Kantar Media Division we are proud to be the official provider of TV viewing data for the broadcast channels in the UK. BARB is the official provider of television audience viewing figures across all channels available to watch in the UK. BARB is jointly owned by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BSkyB, and the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) and is a not-for-profit company. Broadcasters use audience ratings to evaluate the success of programmes and to devise future programming schedules. Our information is also used by commercial TV stations, advertising agencies and advertisers to negotiate prices for commercial airtime and to plan TV advertising campaigns. This measurement task is contracted out by BARB to research companies who perform this function for them. Kantar Media is the research agency that BARB appointed to perform this television audience measurement research in the UK. This involves installing meters in panel member homes, collecting, and processing the data and issuing official viewing figures to the industry. Kantar Media is a global leader in audience measurement and provides audience measurement in 50 markets around the world. When it was originally created, the BARB contract covered only television viewed through a television set. Nowadays, however, audiences can watch through many different devices – PCs, laptops, tablets. As a result, the BARB service is going through a period of change, adapting to include measurement on all devices. Part of this involves extending the task for panellists – measuring not only their televisions but also their PCs, laptops and tablets. In addition, the BARB TV Player Report is a new project for BARB that has been introduced to collect census level data on viewing to broadcaster players (e.g., BBC iPlayer). This uses tags in broadcaster players to collect all viewing data in the UK (not just for the panellists). Kantar is also running this contract. So, are a people person, who can think on your feet? Apply now and join the team. We are looking to recruit a thorough and communicative candidate to join our friendly team of 3, as a Client Service Executive. The suitable candidate will be a motivated and hardworking individual, able to build relationships and support in the day to day. The team operate on 7 days a week basis, which include rotational weekend shifts. Job Role Requirements This role is part of a team of 3 people with responsibility for: Support the Client Services Manager and another Client Services Executive in the delivery of day-to-day support services to BARB’s clients. BARB’s clients are broadcasters who have channels reported by BARB and subscribers of the BARB data Engaging with broadcasters to support them in providing programme and commercial data to Kantar for publication to the wider industry. Broadcasters produce data logs telling us what they broadcast and when. We piece this together with the rest of our data to produce data on how many people (and what types of people) watched each specific episode of television broadcast. The client services team owns the programme /commercial logs and data identifying specific pieces of TV content and engages with the broadcasters to provide training and resolve any issues in this area. This involves regular communication and training with several smaller broadcasters who are new to the process for having a channel reported by BARB and managing and improving the process for updating published programme and commercial data Forming the front-line staff for BARB subscribers and the BARB executive when they have questions around the BARB data and service. Everyday thousands of people use the data that we provide. It is complex data and we have been going through a period of considerable change. As a result, there are many questions that come in. This team fields those questions and requests and works with the rest of the team to find answers and solutions. Responding to queries from subscribers, broadcasters and the BARB executive Managing the programme and spot log system and giving related training / coaching to broadcasters. Engaging with the broadcasters to improve the speed and accuracy with which data is provided Working closely with other teams to resolve queries Communicating key changes, notices and updates to the industry and maintaining industry contact details Communicating key issues to BARB Implementing system updates to include new reported channels, or make changes to currently reported channels Managing and improving the subscriber portal including set-up of new users Updating data specifications for routine and ad-hoc changes Working with Broadcasters on queries relating to the Programme Attribution Service (PAS) and setting up new users Participation in weekend rota (approx. one weekend in four) for managing industry communications when data delivery issues occur. Also participating in early morning rota (8:15 am).
