JOB TITLE: Assistant Charity Shop Manager DEPARTMENT Retail/Income & Innovation REPORTS TO: Charity Shop Manager LOCATION: Norwich Salary :£11,606 per Annum £9.30 per Hour Job Type: Permanent / Part time 24 hours per week over 7 days to include weekends Details: To maximise shop profit and achieve agreed sales targets To manage a team of dedicated volunteers and take responsibility for the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager To actively promote the Charity and the work that we do Main duties and Responsibilities: Maximise shop income and profit to achieve agreed targets and KPI's To deliver sales/profit target through the effective management and motivation of the shop team including the volunteers Ensure maximum stock availability through effective processing of high quality stock, monitoring stock flow into the shop and managing the volume of rag as per policy Provide direction and support to shop staff to actively promote Gift Aid in order to maximise income from donations Support the Shop Manager to generate stock and cash donations locally, engaging with the local community as necessary Maintain continual high standards of shop presentation, back of house operations and customer service To be available at short notice to cover the shop Manage Volunteer Retail Assistants, ensure they are supported in their work and that all volunteers are aware of and are able to follow health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Lead on the day to day running of the shop: Process donated stock to agreed standards and timescale Present and maintain the highest standards of shop and window merchandising and visual layout Ensure an exceptionally high level of customer care is maintained in order to create a pleasant atmosphere for customers Ensure all relevant administration is completed Ensure all financial, cash handling and security policies and procedures are adhered to Manage sales and administration relating to goods received Ensure adequate stock rotation is carried out in agreement with Head Office and other shops Ensure the shop meets Health and Safety regulations Maintain a safe working environment at all times Report any maintenance or Health and Safety issues to Head Office Represent the Charity actively promoting the work that we do Essential Person Specification: Qualifications & Training / GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Experience of working in the Charity Retail sector / Retail / sales environment or volunteer focused role Demonstrate strong communication skills being self-assured in presentation and delivery Basic understanding and skills of Microsoft Office Able to manage a team of volunteers displaying sound management skills Able to play an active role in decision making and customer negotiation with tact, diplomacy and without judgement Able to work under supervision and as part of a team. Demonstrates honesty and integrity Ability to think on the go and time manage self appropriately in a busy environment Sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Wood Green. Ability and willingness to travel to other Charity locations to cover other shops with sickness and holidays. The ability to work flexibly including weekend work. As this role requires working with young children (volunteers), the successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Services
