Our client is a well-established and successful business, they manufacture high quality products. They are looking for a Weekend Shift Manager to help manage their production plans, coach their people, and make the most of their machinery capabilities on shift. Shift Pattern: The role is working Weekend rotation which will mean 5 weeks out of 12 on the rota you will be covering weekend shift Friday to Sunday. The other 7 weeks out of the 12 you will follow the 6-2 and 2-10 (Mon – Fri) shift pattern supporting the shift manager on shift. Requirements: • Experience of working in shift management within the manufacturing sector is essential. • Deadlines will be tight, so experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential, along with the ability to push expansion plans forwards. Role Purpose: • Responsible for the shift management of all manufacturing and warehousing functions on site, ensuring the production plan is achieved at all times. • Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of all manufacturing and warehouse assets on site. • Responsible for the implementation and supervision of site safety performance, process efficiency, productivity and OTIF performance. Key Responsibilities: • Liaising with all site ‘key’ personnel to agree the daily / weekly ‘Plan’ for all manufacturing activity. (Planning changeovers, warehousing activity, servicing tooling, under performing assets, training opportunities etc) • To develop / coach / supervise / appraise your shift team. • Fully involve all team members with regards to the overall performance of the business through excellent communication, coaching, briefings, team meetings etc. • Undertake daily inspections of all manufacturing assets to ensure optimum performance is being achieved, reporting under performance within your peer group to enhance OEE. (including unnecessary waste/scrap) • Ensure all product manufactured is within manufacturing tolerances. • Suggest / agree / implement changes to enhance the operational performance of all manufacturing assets. • Suggest / agree / implement changes to enhance the operational performance of all operational personnel. • Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary downtime / from the product changeover process. • Ensure the sites housekeeping standards are optimum at all times. • Ensure the sites 5 ‘S’ methodology is maintained by all personnel. • Develop tools to monitor / trend the performance of your specific team to enhance the overall business performance. • Lead by example at all times. • ‘Champion’ health and safety initiatives, supporting the company’s behavioural safety programme. • Achieve agreed KPIs and personal targets / objectives. • Liaise with all peer group to ensure that successful communication takes place at hand over periods. • Regular face to face verbal and written communication with managers, peers and subordinates, including daily summary reporting, monthly summary reporting & Operational reports etc. • Significant requirement to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Shift Managers and Supervisors. • Coach, develop, and manage a high performing team that delivers the best results, adding value and continuous improvement. • Return to work interviews. • Absence intervention. • Disciplinary investigations. • Conflict resolution. Personal Qualities: Excellent leadership and communication skills with sound planning and organisational abilities Ability to demonstrate the personal qualities of accountability in fulfilling the job role, demonstrate a drive and passion for continuous improvement and adaptability to changing business circumstances Minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing people Ideally have Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and IOSH Working Safely or equivalent certificates Well-developed oral and written communication skills and computer literacy Experience of batch and continuous processes, with knowledge of control of ingredients/packaging and waste management.
