Job Description As a Quant Project Manager you are the key player on the project. The client will seek your advice, trust your judgment and value your opinion. You need to be a strong client communicator, who’s organised, methodical and numerate. You will be ultimately accountable for successful project management and delivery. You will have enthusiasm for your client(s) business, bringing your knowledge and expertise to bear in your management of the projects you are assigned to. The role requires a high level of problem solving offering solutions to your team, clients and other departments. You will also be managing some of the more complex projects yourself and therefore need to have a very hands on approach and attitude. In doing so, you are also expected to provide clear goals and direction to the team and lead by example. You will need to coordinate with both internal and external teams. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibility for the management and control of projects allocated to you, from commissioning through to delivery, booking projects and planning resource, working with external and internal teams, translations, DP, coding, facilities and recruitment agencies as well as monitoring field work progress, ensuring that M3 achieves and exceeds client expectations throughout. Financial Management of Project Budget /costs. You need to make sure that all external vendors are within budget and aim for a set profit target on each individual project. Partner Management. You will be responsible to seek and commission eligible partners for your projects – fieldwork partners and translation agencies for example. You need to through diligence work with these partners to make sure they deliver to the M3 Standards for client servicing. Responsibility for guiding Project Coordinators set up working with you on projects. Comply with M3’s operating procedures and ensure all practices and systems follow the ISO Accreditation. The Project Manager will ensure, through efficient team management and their own administration, all jobs are carried out within agreed timing schedules and budgets to the level expected by both the client and M3. Client services. The Project Manager should strive to provide excellent client services on all jobs and to gain high scores on our Client Satisfaction Survey. Internal work. The Project Manager should strive to work in compliance with M3’s internal processes and within the MR system. Qualifications Skills, Attitude & Approach: Knowledge of the Client’s Business: Project Managers should have a good knowledge and understanding of their Client’s business. They should be capable of using this knowledge to inform their actions whether that is in discussions with the Client or briefing operations/fieldwork/other suppliers. They should develop and maintain a professional relationship with clients on a daily basis as the focal point of contact and ensure the provision of project management services are of a quality consistent with M3’s standards as judged by the Operations Director. Client Management: They should be comfortable working with the client and be able to hold their own when necessary; displaying judgment as to what extent they can commit M3 to deliver the project as briefed. The Project Manager’s experience should allow them to foresee and forestall potential problems in all Client initiated activity. With this experience they should know when to escalate any potential client issues and alert all those involved. Project Management: An essential element of project management is the ability to set up both the client’s and internal team’s expectations. The quest should be to effectively manage the client’s expectation of the work, and aim to exceed this where possible. Above all else, experienced Project Managers must have the knowledge and foresight to inform management in good time of any concerns regarding project deliverables. They must agree the project budget with management/business development prior to project start and prepare a sample plan to cover all fieldwork requirements and deliverables. For periods of absence they must ensure project details are handed over, providing access to all necessary information to enable the project to continue successfully during their absence. At the client’s request they should be able to provide a full summary of results, costs, conclusions and implications and seek feedback from the client on project satisfaction. Finally, they should complete final invoice for the client - ensuring this is signed off by the client and their manager. Meeting/ Conference Call Preparation: All documentation and updates likely to be required in the meeting/call are the responsibility of the Project Manager to ensure that they are present and to the best standard possible given budgetary and time constraints. Team Working: The Project Manager is the central co-ordination role of the team, providing accurate briefing and ensuring that information is available when required by their team leader or other departments. They are positioned to develop the most effective cross-departmental team spirit and understanding of the Client context of all projects – no one should ever work in a vacuum. It is expected that the Project Manager has the judgment to know when they should seek guidance from their seniors prior to a situation becoming critical and/or to act as mentor to the more junior project managers who may not have as much experience in identifying potential issues. Negotiation Skills: The candidate will be able to negotiate costs with partners. Financial Management of Project Costs: Ensure timely and profitable quoting and subsequent invoicing of all jobs/projects and the efficient management of jobs prior to final invoicing. Define and agree margin on each project in support of overall company target. Ensure achievement of revenue and maintenance of margin during course of project. In so doing, demonstrate an understanding of team/project profitability. Maintain at all times an analysis of all the project costs so you are able to provide accurate information to the Operations Director either during or at the end of each project.
