Job Description Composites Maunfacturing Engineer The Company A international aerospace component and sub systems manufacturer with a large client base in the Aerospace, Defense and Energy markets. The Role Developing composite processing techniques and engineering assembly strategies to enable the manufacture of specialised advanced aerospace composite parts for use in a range aerospace applications. Improving manufacturing processes in line with a Zero Defects philosophy. Interacting with customers in support of NPI and existing product programs. Using a data based approach to problem solving within the manufacturing environment The work will include the following: Knowledge and appreciation of composite materials processing methods such as in and out of autoclave pre-preg systems and RTM, along with knowledge of core processing techniques Ensure that all manufacturing engineering activities are handled professionally and effectively following business processes and protocols. Support the manufacturing engineering team during the site transformation project Creation of concise work instructions for an end to end composite component manufacture (Laminating through to Assembly and Paint) to support a “Right first Time” philosophy Comprehensive understanding of a range of problem solving techniques such as (but not limited to) 8D and 5 Whys. Continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies to evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows and identify improvements which reduce waste and “mistake proof” the process The Candidate To apply for this role, you must 1. Knowledge and understanding of relevant composite material testing is essential. 2. Knowledge in working with composite 3. Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement tools. 4. Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions 5. Experience managing customers both technically and commercially to ensure costs, delivery and quality are clear at all times 6.
