Job Title: Production Manager Responsible to: Production Director Description The Company is an engineering business engaged in the design & manufacture of robotics & automation solutions for food manufacturing companies. We have a blue-chip customer base and excellent reputation within the industry. We require an experienced Production Manager who has a background in engineering & production management. You will ideally be a time-served engineer with relevant qualifications, as well as experience in an engineering production environment. Responsibilities Day-to-day management of all manufacturing activities to facilitate the timely completion of contracts, which are typically bespoke robotic pick & place systems. Working to the Production plan allocate the work to the departments and regularly monitor the progress directly and through the Production supervisor and other heads of department. Chair the weekly Production Meeting, identifying issues that can affect the timely completion of them. Report status to senior management & head of finance Liaise with all departments to ensure that the flow of parts is maintained in line with the Production Plan (Design, machine shop, fabrication, electrical, assembly, purchasing, stores, planning etc) Ensure that assemblies and machines are built in the most efficient manner to meet cost expectations as well as planned delivery times. Work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure that equipment is built to the correct standards and specifications Liaise with the Design Office as required to resolve any technical or build issues and to ensure continuous cost reduction and technical improvements Using the MRP as well as other systems resolve any issues that are affecting the efficient completion of the contracts Implement / maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent quality and to improve efficiency Introduce & maintain Lean / 5S concepts and conduct 5S/Lean and Health & Safety audits Regularly appraise your team members, including identifying training needs for the individuals, teams and for business improvements. Help to develop a more flexible and multi-skilled work-force Help to develop a positive work ethic including focus on Team work, continuous improvement and maintaining/improving quality standards. Encourage staff to develop new ideas and techniques to ensure continuous cost reduction and technical improvements. With the help of the H&S advisor, ensure that all staff are operating safely and within the companies Health & Safety / Environmental policies
