Working from state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the West Midlands, it is our pleasure to now be partnering our Client to help develop, build and nurture their team with only the very best talent As part of this growth, we are now actively seeking an experienced Battery Electronics & Control Engineer on a permanent basis. In this role you will work alongside a small and growing team of Professional Engineers in new product development and industrialisation of Automotive Batteries. Reporting to the Electronic Engineering Lead, this position will support company baseline products and evaluation of customer proposals. As the Battery Electronics and Control Engineer, you will have a good knowledge of Electronics components for Battery Systems, principles, control strategies used to achieve functional, performance and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to work cross functionally, conduct design reviews and support development activities. On offer to the successful candidate is a negotiable (albeit dependent on relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full flexible benefits package. Key Responsibilities will be: Assist and support the delivery of customer projects as per requirements. Work to ensure capable, robust and documented methods across all attributes and systems supporting robust and optimised design. Conduct electronics and systems design review using electrical calculations for low and high voltage components against design and regulatory requirements. Support the development of customer test specification and procedures. Review design suitability against DFM, DFA and EE integration criteria. Support FMEA, Functional Safety and other product risk assessment activities. Support battery architecture development and provide components selection recommendations. Work on ensuring hardware can support future capacity and performance requirements. Contribute to the test data acquisition, management and automated reporting. Conduct RCA activity using appropriate method to resolve component or system level issue Integration of customer campaign requirements from materials, electrode, cells to module and pack. Capture and track customer requirements. Create technical presentations for design review, training and knowledge share. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.Qualifications & Experience ideally required: Should ideally have a Degree qualification in Engineering or Science discipline (Electrical/Electronics/Physics/Systems/Software or Control engineering), although plenty of relevant experience will also be considered. You should be an experienced Electronics & Control Engineer with a good understanding of Battery technologies. You will have gained your relevant experiences from working in the Automotive and/or Battery Manufacturing sectors; although equivalent experiences gained from the Aerospace, Nuclear, Power or Transport industry sectors will also be considered. You will need to have experience of delivering Battery pack systems, components or control strategy. You will be able to perform Battery pack and components parameters calculation to verify suitability to achieve specific requirement. Good understanding of Battery Electronics design rules and applications needed. You will be able to work systematically and use appropriate RCA methods to resolve system or component level issue. You should be able to interpret schematic, component parameters, drawing data and control algorithms. Good understanding of product delivery using V&V and Agile methodologies needed. Good understanding of Battery safety regulations and its applications needed. Good understanding of Battery pack manufacturing and EOL test requirements needed. Any knowledge of Battery pack simulation techniques using industry standard software tools (MATLAB/ Simulink/ COMSOL etc) would be beneficial. Data logging using Vector tools and ability to provide data analysis report would be useful. Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IMechE, IET, IEEE) is desirable.Does this sound like you? This position is available with immediate effect.
