Year 5 Teaching Assistant A lovely, warm and nurturing two form entry primary school are looking for a teaching assistant to start at the beginning of October to join a fantastic Year 5 classroom until at least the end of the academic year. As a Year 5 teaching assistant you will be given the responsibility to join an OFSTED 'good' rated school and work as a resillient, determined and understanding role model in the classroom. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply and anyone with previous experience working in a school or with children formally. The schools aim is to develop each child socially, academically, emotionally and morally. This is acheived through very dedicated and hardworking staff who will be willing to go the extra mile - as only the best will do for each child in their care. Community is also a huge part of the school and parents often work in partnership with the school to ensure they are receiving the best education possible. The curriculum is filled with exciting lessons, school trips and extra curriculur activites to ensure each child is engaged and motivated to learn. All staff are provided with parking and the school is local to many bus stations and Peckham Rye train station. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A YEAR 5 TEACHING ASSISTANT As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant you will: Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Understand Individual Education Plans & Behaviour Support Plans and assist to implement these, under the guidance of the teacher Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record and feedback to the teacher as directed Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent Good numeracy skills- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent - Salary: £1600 - £2000 per month depening on experience If you would like to be considered for this Year 5 teaching assistant opportunity, please send your application and if successful we will contact you with full information about the role and the school.
