The business is focused upon the construction of new build private sale and affordable housing and is currently in the midst of substantial growth. We have a number of large scale new build projects in the planning or about to commence in the London and the Home Counties and are looking for an experienced Project Buyer to join our procurement team, based at our fabulous new office space in Farringdon, but with the requirement to work from home and to frequent our developments in London and the Home Counties area as the business need dictates, therefore flexibility is an absolute prerequisite. The candidate will work predominantly unsupervised and will report to the Regional Procurement Manager. The successful candidate will ideally come from within the new build housing sector and be familiar with traditional housing and high-rise concrete frame construction methods and have experience of procuring materials and plant. We expect the candidate to be a confident and effective communicator, with excellent verbal and written skills and with the flexibility to support other team members. During the interview process, candidates will need to demonstrate their proven knowledge, understanding and experience of: Sustainable Procurement and Initiatives Have a good level of product specification and legislative knowledge to enable effective communication and dialogue with project teams to identify opportunity and risk when selecting compliant material and supply chain services Familiar with employer’s requirements, internal specifications and demonstrate ability to challenge and ability to propose VE options without compromising quality and value Excellent relationships and knowledge of supply chain within the house building sector Prepare quantified schedules from working drawings for bulk materials, assess manufacturer schedules and details against designed elements to meet compliant specification, warranties and guarantees Build and maintain Supply Chain trading relationships, challenge existing and identify new suppliers and products, as necessary for the individual schemes Prepare and submit enquiries, compare quotations and placement of orders in line with Lovell procurement policies Provide/assist with commercial forecast for materials supplied on direct basis on a monthly basis Familiar with COINs to populate orders, reports, and resolution of invoice disputes, able to use Microsoft applications for reporting and scheduling purposes Work closely with all disciplines such as health and safety, estimating, operations, technical and commercial teams throughout the process of tendering, pre-start to the successful delivery of schemes focusing on client expectations Populate bill of quantities from construction drawings, in conjunction with Employers Requirements or Lovell specification, to ensure full order requirements are accounted for Demonstrate good knowledge of supply chain, product specification and compliance with accredited industry legislation to meet building regulation standards Produce enquiries, timely placement of orders in-line with procurement schedule accounting for lead-in periods of material availability and design periods where applicable Comply with Lovell sustainability and procurement policies and source from approved supply chain Familiar with relevant NHBC guidelines and Building Regulations Candidates should ideally be in possession of a valid CSCS card and qualified to HNC (BTEC) in Building Studies or equivalent and have a CIPS qualification.
