Head of Internal Controls Purpose of Role: Belron is seeking a Head of Internal Control as part of an ongoing programme to strengthen the controls environment within the organisation, and in particular to strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). The role will provide the opportunity to lead a large, high-profile controls transformation global project covering 5 transformation programmes that are underpinned by modern business applications (Oracle Fusion, Salesforce, Workday etc). The role will also lead the creation of a controls “Centre of Excellence”. The individual should be prepared to work flexibly and to share their expertise and best practice across the organisation. Responsibilities: · Managing a team of controls experts (up to 10 at any given time) to develop and document effective internal controls over financial reporting, to include: o Performing a detailed risk assessment of existing internal controls over financial reporting across key geographies. o Identifying and helping to identify / mitigate gaps in internal control and driving process efficiency. o Creating documented procedures, process flows and documentation of controls. o Evaluating, reporting, and resolving control deficiencies to ensure the adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting. o Identifying opportunities for controls automation, rationalisation and standardisation across the business. · Together with our external advisors, set up and run the controls transformation programme office including appropriate governance, monitoring, tracking, issue escalation management and senior stakeholder management. · Overseeing the design of controls and supporting the programme to deploy the controls to the business and embed them to ensure they become ‘business as usual’ activities. · Reviewing work packages and deliverables to ensure the Control programme objectives are delivered. · Working with key stakeholders across key geographies, Group Finance and the Transformation programme teams to provide challenge and support in the area of controls. · Acting as an internal control champion for the wider business and helping to create an internal control compliance culture. · Working with IT specialists on appropriate IT general and application controls, including access control management and segregation of duties. · Working with the Internal Audit team and external audit to ensure an appropriate programme of assurance over internal controls and to identify areas where additional controls development work is required. · Overseeing and managing third party service providers budget and budget tracking in partnership with service providers. · Acting as a controls subject matter expert to help the business navigate through multiple interim states. Skills and Experience required · Qualified accountant with at least demonstratable years PQE working with companies reporting under IFRS / Degree, ACA or CIA · Excellent understanding of business and financial processes, controls and ICFR experience and an advantage if experience with modern business applications (Oracle Fusion, Salesforce,) · Knowledge of best practise control frameworks would be an ideal preference · Judgement to make sound assumptions to base analysis on. · Excellent numerical, problem solving, written and communication skills · Improvement mindset, with the ability to understand and analyse the quality of existing processes/controls and identify areas for improvement · Good at influencing, at all levels of the organisation (the individual will be required to present to the executive leadership) · Robust, confident, resilient, with an ability to challenge existing practices · Self-motivated and able to take full ownership of the role The role will require some regular visits to our office at Milton Park, Egham and there will be some modest international travel required to fulfil the role outlined above.
