Director, Lender Insurance Advisory, Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions Context: Aon’s Lender Insurance Advisory practice is part of Aon’s M&A and Transaction Solutions (AMATS) team which provides both deal advisory services and a wide range of transaction solutions to clients undertaking M&A and project finance activity across EMEA. The Pan-European team has grown rapidly in the last four years with over 75 colleagues in London and a total of 180 across EMEA. The team has a diverse range of backgrounds including investment bankers, Big 4, lawyers, actuaries, cyber security experts as well as human capital and risk & insurance specialists. Building the AMATS Infrastructure proposition is a core element of the overall AMATS growth strategy and the Infrastructure team is now looking to expand its dedicated Lender Advisory team, which is a core element of our overall advisory proposition. Our client base includes fund managers and institutional investors plus utilities, supply chain equity and strategic inbound investors into EMEA. Many of these clients are undertaking both Greenfield and Brownfield financings across the renewables, conventional power, energy from waste, natural resources, utilities, transport, communications, social infrastructure and mining sectors. This client base plus our relationships with lending banks is generating significant Lender Insurance Advisor opportunities. The Lender Insurance Advisory team delivers financially focused risk and insurance advice across the full range of infrastructure sectors. We have deep experience across primary greenfield financings, re-financings and operational reviews and our specialist and experienced personnel review, assess and monitor the risk transfer process throughout the tenor of a loan facility. Purpose of Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director to join the Lender Insurance Advisory team in Aon's M&A and Transactions Solutions ("AMATS") practice in the UK (London). The candidate must have significant experience in the insurance industry and in leading and managing advisory services for infrastructure and project finance transactions, particularly in the renewable and wider power and energy sectors. The role will include a particular focus on the renewable energy sector, with the successful candidate taking ownership of the delivery of mandates and responsibility for driving growth in renewable and wider energy and power projects. Key to the role will be the coordination of Aon resources, technical advice and solutions across various geographies and practices within Aon, including a dedicated project support team in Krakow. Regular interface with clients and their advisors is an important facet of the role. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to oversee and lead the delivery of a portfolio of Lender Advisory mandates (financings, refinancings and operational reviews), including managing the delivery of projects with more junior members of the team and our Krakow based project support colleagues. Project work will include: carrying out insurance due diligence. advising on the extent of risk transfer available within the traditional and non-traditional insurance markets. reviewing and advising on insurance provisions within project and finance documents, including liaison with lenders’ legal and other advisors. Providing post-close services including ad-hoc advice to lenders and annual insurance programme reviews. Additionally, the role will involve the proactive identification of any additional M&A insurance solutions and wider advisory services that Aon may also be able to provide to clients during the transaction and following financial close. Important additional responsibilities will involve: Driving project management engagement revenue growth by raising the profile of the team both externally (sponsors, lenders, advisors) and internally within Aon. Building strong networks both internally and externally (sponsors, lenders, advisors), particularly in the renewables sub-sector. Building and fostering client relationships. In addition the role will include supporting the development of a growing team across EMEA, and guiding and supporting more junior members of the team. Language skills: English a pre-requisite, and additional foreign language skills beneficial. Experience: University Qualification. ACII (full or part qualified) or equivalent. A strong background in general insurance for project finance transactions is essential. A track record of delivering Lender Advisory engagements and/or advising on the structuring/placement of insurance programmes to support non-recourse infrastructure debt financings (project finance, private placements, public bonds) is essential. In addition to renewables experience, sector experience across the key Infrastructure sub-sectors is a priority (including energy, transportation, communications, social infrastructure).
